The Blue Roses is a high energy blues band featuring David Christy Jones from Wales on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Garry Limuti from the USA on guitar and backup vocals; Irish bassist Marc Derham and Irish drummer Ian McNamara. They play a blend of Texas, Chicago and traditional blues and soul, with an exciting hard rocking edge, similar to Cream, Rory Gallagher, and Johnny Winter. Garry Limuti grew up in the Deep South (U.S.A.) listening to, and playing everything from Robert Johnson and The Louvin Brothers to The Allman Brothers and The Ramones. As a lifelong musician, he has played nearly every major rock and blues club in the U.S. and his roots rock band The Roosters was touted as the next big band out of L.A. in the late 80’s by Cashbox Magazine. One of Garry Limuti’s songs was selected by Roy Orbison for his follow up to the multi platinum Mystery Girl album. Unfortunately Roy died before recording the album. The following years offered vast experiences and great musical adventures and a lot of struggling within a dying live music scene. Frustrated with the ever diminishing live venues, and pay to play mentality, Garry made a decision to leave the U.S. for greener pastures. Ireland! After Garry moved to Ireland over a year ago, he immediately set out to form a blues based band, and spent months auditioning musicians before finally hooking up with the current members. Ian, their drummer has played with members of the Cranberries (Monoband), The O’Malleys, The Outfit, Johnny Fean (Horslips) and has written, recorded and toured with a host of musicians for over 30 years, playing everything from Hard Rock, Punk, Ska, Country and Blues. Christy, the lead vocalist and bassist is a talented kid (only 24) who is a multi instrumentalist and plays drums, bass, guitar, and sings for a number of Cork based rock and blues bands. Marc is a talented multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and sound engineer.
