Clonakilty-based indie rock band Intricate release their debut single “Getting Close” on May 29th. The track explores the uncertainty of your twenties, capturing the feeling of moving forward while quietly questioning whether you’re on the right path.

Recorded locally at Wavefield Studios, the track blends melodic indie rock with influences from artists such as The Kooks and Sam Fender.
“This song is about feeling stuck but still hopeful,” says vocalist Andrew Whelton. “We’re really proud of it, and we feel lucky to be among a small number of West Cork bands putting ourselves out there.”

The band have already begun to build momentum, recently supporting The Frames at DeBarras in Clonakilty—the same venue where they will launch their debut single “Getting Close”.

AINM

West Cork collective AINM infuse elements of trip-hop, electronica and rock, creating a range of sweet and dark sounds. Their latest release, Darlin’, arrived on February 1st and marks the first single from their upcoming debut EP.

The EP began as a series of bedroom recordings, with the band tracking most of the instrumentation themselves. By chance, they later connected with one of their long-time inspirations, acclaimed artist and producer Andy Barlow — co-founder of trip-hop duo Lamb — and went on to complete the project at his studio in Brighton.

AINM have been likened by radio presenters and DJs to the likes of Massive Attack and Portishead, blending hypnotic beats and emotive melodies into immersive, cinematic soundscapes.

OUTRI

OUTRI is a solo bass endeavour by established North-East bass player and ‘musical magpie’ (NARC mag) Ian ‘dodge’ Paterson. This project takes inspiration from a love of jazz, folk, electronica, found-sound and cinematic landscapes alongside an aesthetic focus on single live recorded takes, come what may. The music combines organic shifting loops underpinned with beautiful harmonies and glitchy electronica. Having performed and recorded for the last twenty years as a side person with various bands and artists (YVA / Beccy Owen / Sharks Took The Rest / Nick Pride and the Pimptones / Slowlight Quartet / HAV / The Rubber Wellies / Matt Stalker and Fables / Giles Strong Quartet / Not Now Charlie) in a whole range of genres from jazz to folk to pop this project is an opportunity to try and bring some of those disparate strands together.

“A mesmeric haze of bass, harmonics and cinematic electronica, NMBR_1 is a lush and indulgent sound bath for your ears” (NARC magazine)

A bewitching cauldron of ambient sounds” (Dirge Mag)

“Mesmericlal meandering bass and bird song creates an expansive tapestry of acoustic wonder” (NARC online)
