We are lucky in Clonakilty to be sitting on a goldmine of talented youngsters making music in all sorts of genres, many of whom have cut their teeth and flourished over the 22 years of the guitar festival. This year we’re curating a stage to specifically celebrate the youth bands that are the future of west Cork’s vibrant music scene. Overseen by Mary Moore of The Bones Below, we hope this is a staging ground for bands that will one day headline the festival.
Each act will play a 20 minute set and 5 minutes for change overs, running order as follows:
Caoimhe O Brien
Hailing from Leap in West Cork, teenager Caoimhe O’Brien has been playing music since she was 5 years old. Some of her biggest influences include artists such as Noah Kahn. With soaring vocals and intricate guitar melodies, Caoimhe’s blend of folk and country is not to be missed!!

Becky Kinsella
Becky Kinsella has lived in different countries all her life but is now resident in West Cork. With sweet and sombre melodies and an innate ability for harmony, Becky’s voice is a joy to listen to. Her biggest musical influences are Lana del Ray, Beabadoobee and Greenday. Becky plays guitar and sings and writes her own music as a fun hobby. She has been a part of choirs all her life and has performed solo in The Town Hall Skibbereen.
3TAC
3TAC are 3 Clonakilty girls who share a love of music and songwriting. They are heavily influenced by local musicians and the wealth of music in West cork. Their soulful songs reflect a passion for storytelling, harmonies and swapping instruments! Members include Tess O’Sullivan, 14, Lillia Noonan,14
Muirne McMahon, 14.
Synyster
Delivering a high intensity, fast paced live set, Synyster is a hard rock/metal band from the West Cork area. Taking their influences from 80s thrash metal and early 2000s metal, Synyster cover songs from Avenged Sevenfold and Linkin Park. Having rocked the stages of Connollys of Leap and The Town Hall Skibbereen, these guys are not to be missed. Members include: Ned Roe, Ultan Denis McAlevy, Eoin West, Finn Walsh, Joe Ardis & Naoise O’Driscoll.
The Dead Roses
Skibbereen band The Dead Roses are an energetic 4 piece punk outfit, taking their influences from The Undertones, Nirvana and other classic grunge and punk. This charismatic bunch have played Connollys of Leap with Born to Perform, Ar n-Ait and The Town Hall Skibbereen. Consisting of members Pa Connolly, Serena Kingston, Baxter Dunnachie and Sam Van Win Crowley, these guys are ones to watch.
